Dr. De Souza is an experienced biopharmaceutical executive, having founded Neurocrine Biosciences and held leadership roles at several companies, including Royalty Pharma, Alector, Cyclerion Therapeutics, Neurocrine and Intracellular. He has raised hundreds of millions in capital, led successful IPOs, and facilitated company sales, such as Synaptic to Lundbeck. With extensive R&D experience at Aventis, Neurocrine, and DuPont Merck, he has served on numerous boards and committees, authored 300+ publications, and received numerous awards, including Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005.
